1. Tell me about your self?
I am an educator, a children's book author, and a publicist. I am originally from NC and relocated to Cincinnati in 2012. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology/Audiology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Masters in Health Education and Promotion from Virginia Tech. I am a 2x co-author of the acclaimed children’s books, Peter’s Perfect Pipes and I’m No Different Than You. My first book, Peter’s Perfect Pipes has been adapted into an animated series that will be used as an educational resource for hospitals and schools nationwide. I am passionate about Reading and Literacy and enhancing the knowledge of patients and families and meeting them where they are to assist in improving their quality of life. For fun, I like to travel, go to the spa and hang with friends and family.
2.What are your favorite books to read?
My favorite books to read are mysteries and any books geared towards growth and development whether personal or professional.
3. When did you decide you were going to write a book?
I decided 3 years ago when my friend/co-author Jaime Mahaffey and I decided we should create educational resources that are fun and easy to understand for the patients we cared for.
4. How did you come up with the name of your book?
Peter's Perfect Pipes was thought of by Jaime's daughter and it is a play on (perfect pipes = healthy lungs). I'm No Different Than You came to me in a dream and it also something I remind kids that have chronic conditions to remember - they are no different than other kids
