interviewing author James M. Becher

Q1 When did you decide you were going to write a book?
A. In 1969, In St. Petersburg  Jr. College, FL,  I submitted one of my stories, A Biblical fiction short story set in the time of Christ, to a magazine contest and it won 2nd prize.  In 1974, after graduating from college (Clearwater Christian College) and Seminary (Biblical School of Theology in Hatfield, Pennsylvania) I went back to that prize-winning story and decided to expand it into a novel by adding more characters and drawing out the plot. Thus, my first book began. Shortly after starting this book I got the idea for my second book, a purposeful time-travel novel.  So I started work on both.

Q.2 how did you come up with the name of your books?

A. Naming my books came somewhat naturally, Since my first book is a Biblical novel, it was natural to choose a title from the Bible, and, since my novel contrasted the earthly kingdoms of the time with the kingdom of God, I chose the phrase which Jesus spoke in Mark 10:14-15 concerning…

Q1.when did you decide you were going to write a book?
A. It was back in 1998 when I first saw a copy of The Adventures of Captain Underpants. I thought the book was quite funny and that someday, I’d write a series for kids myself. It wasn’t until I met fellow author Michael Wade at an author visit at a school in 2010, that got me back on track to start writing. I’m glad I went to see him.

Q.2 how did you come up with the name of your books
A.Growing up I had a best friend that shared a lot of adventures with me in my neighborhood. My stories are based loosely on the two of us. So, I decided to use my middle names for the two main characters. (William and Thomas)

Q. 3 what are you working on now for 20 18?
A. Presently I’m working on book three in my I Told You So! series. I’ve even introduced a new character to the series. It won’t be out until 2019. However, I did release my second book this past June.

Q 4. how long have you been writing?
A. I started writing my series back in 2015 and…

Q.1 When did you decide you were going to write a book?

A.I've known I was going to write a book since I was big enough to hold a pencil.

Q.2 How did you come up with the name of your books?
A. This first one has been through several iterations. I sent the early chapters into several contests under different names: Demon's Wager, Demons Don't (it won the Golden Heart under that title) until finally, a friend suggested The Demon Always Wins, riffing off the poker theme in the book. Q.3 What are you working on now for 2018?
A. I just sent the second book in my Touched by a Demon series off to my editor. It's called The Demon's in the Details and I hope to release it in January. And I'm working on the first draft of the third book in the series, The Demon Wore Stilettos.
Q 4. How long have you been writing?
AI started writing in second grade. Writing a book was easy. Writing a book worthy of publication was a lot harder.

Q1.when did you decide you were going to write a book?
A. I knew for longer than 15 that I would one day write a book I just didn’t think it would be a children’s picture book. I finally decided to actually write a book when my wife was pregnant with our first child four years ago.
Q.2 how did you come up with the name of your books
A. The name usually just pops into my head when I’m least expecting it to. This book came to me a little easier from story to title. The title of this story sums up the message and that’s what I was looking to do.
Q. 3 what are you working on now for 20 18?
A. I am currently working on the 2nd book in the Let’s Eat Together series. I don’t want to give much away but you can expect the next set of characters to be in a completely different setting. However, one character will remain a constant in all the books. Find out who soon.

Q 4. how long have you been writing?
A. I have been writing since I was 17, so 22 years.

Q 5. What advic…

when did you decide you were going to write a book?

A. Bizarrely, I first decided to write stories after speaking to my work colleagues. I briefly mentioned that I made stories up for my son and it was suggested that I write them down so as not to forget them. From there I just kept on writing and now I have self-published six books.

Q.2 how did you come up with the name of your books
A. Coming up with the name for my first book was easy really! They are short story compilations so that was the first part done, then the second part was just a catchy title surrounding the fact that all of the stories contained animals. "Short Stories For Kids: Amazing Animal Adventures" just seemed like the logical choice!
Q. 3 what are you working on now for 20 18?
A. Thinking of new stories has taken a bit of a back - burner for now. This is mainly owed to the fact that I am having several translations completed, all of which need editing before they can be…

Q. 1 when did you decide you were going to write a book?
A. About three years ago I was watching my grandchildren play, and it crossed my mind about everything they will have to go through and learn in life. I said to my wife, “I could write a book about these kids and never run out of subjects to write about.”
Q.2 how did you come up with the name of your books
A. I wanted to combine my love of American History with the life lessons my grandchildren would have to learn throughout their lives. The charters in the series will be American icons, American heroes and important people from American history, this giving me the idea to name the series “Kyler and Kalli’s American Life”. Of course, my first book is titled “Kyler and Kalli’s American Life: The Broken Picture”.
 Q. 3 what are you working on now for 2018?
A. I am currently working on the next Kyler and Kalli’s American Life series which will deal with bullies.
Q 4. how long have you been writing?
A. I h…

when did you decide you were going to write a book?
A. 7 years ago
Q.2 how did you come up with the name of your books -
A. I only have one book out, writing the 2nd. Over 25 years ago,  I went through several traumatic things at once.  I was married to a man for 6 months and in the three months time I found out that he had been in prison for first-degree murder. After I became an alcoholic, drug dealer, and totally lost myself due to the fact that my husband was beating me up and punch me in the face and verbally and mentally abusing me every day. After our divorce was final I decided I wanted to get my life right and I went to a shopping center to buy some new clothes when I was sexually assaulted by a guy with the night that tried to kill me. I beg God who I didn't know at the time, never went to church and never prayed. I prayed a prayer that day if God would get me out of the situation I would turn my life over to him. My book is dedicated to Go…

Interview with Kelly Lenihan, children’s picture book author and soon to be cookbook author.

Q.1 when did you decide you were going to write a book?

A. As a parent, I delighted in sharing my love of the magical world of books by reading aloud to my two boys. Many nights, my younger son would place his tiny hand on mine while looking up with big, brown hope-filled eyes, (most likely as a stalling tactic) and plead for “one more story” – how could any parent refuse? So at the moment, I began making up stories. My son loved them so much, he would have me tell the stories over and over, night after night. I wrote the stories down and occasionally thought about sending them out to publishers, but eventually, my son got older and I went on to other things.

Fast forward to the advent of self-publishing and my desire was reawakened to see the stories I had written for my son all those years ago in print. In 2012 I launched a publishing company, retained an illustrator and got to work bringing my…

Q1. when did you decide you were going to write a book?

A. Chicken Lips came to life because of my twin daughters! They inspired me to write his story about a year ago! With the help of my publisher, I felt confident in putting myself out there!

Q.2 how did you come up with the name of your books
A. CHICKEN LIPS is the name of our real life, oddly named cow! The title was a no-brainer for me. Note to future readers, you must say Chicken Lips in your silliest voice.
Q. 3 what are you working on now for 20 18?
A. Working on a sequel and I  have had approval on another completely different book called, 'My house is small'. I'm also keeping insanely busy doing free school visits!

Q 4. how long have you been writing?
A. I had this amazing teacher in the first grade who really helped shape my love of writing! (Not to mention, my mom works in a school media center! Writing and reading is just ingrained in me)
Q 5. What advice would you gi…
