I decided to write a book many years after I created a colored pencil drawing of a dog many years ago. About 3 years ago, I quite by accident talked with a woman at the hospital I work at. She told me she had plans of writing a children's book and was looking for an illustrator. Being a multi-media fine artist, I, of course, showed her samples of some of my work. After showing her my drawing of the dog, Wilber, which I had named when I did the drawing, I thought, why was I not doing something myself. I always wanted to use the drawing in a cartoon strip, but could never think of anything funny. Making a children's book was the perfect answer for me.
