Interviewing children's author JRenee Heimerman
Q1. when did you decide you were going to write a book?
A. I remember wanting to write an ABC book when I was in middle school. Not sure why. I pictured it as being a traditional ABC book. I had a picture of a lion flying a kite for K and L. It's funny thinking back on that memory.
Q.2 how did you come up with the name of your books
A. The ABCs of Rose was written in an afternoon and the words just flowed. There was never any thought that went into the name. When the story was finished, it was simply titled The ABCs of Rose. I didn't see any other possible title.
Q. 3 what are you working on now for 20 18?
A. My next book is at the illustrator right now. It is called Tommy's ABCs and teaches the same lesson a different way. Tommy thinks poorly of himself because he couldn't play basketball like the other kids in gym class. I hope to reach kids that didn't resonate with Rose. I was afraid boys may not appeal to Rose but may relate to Tommy. I am shooting for a release date in time for holiday shopping.
Q 4. how long have you been writing?
A. I loved writing in school but never thought about doing it professionally. I wrote my first self-published book geared towards people that struggled with depression in 2008. I was never able to get it off the ground and had very few sales. It was before the days of Amazon Kindle and all the options we have today to put a book out there. I may resurrect it someday and release on Amazon and add to my website. I'm not sure.
Q 5. What advice would you give other authors?
A. Don't give up on your dream, whether it's writing or anything else in life. If the idea/concept is born in your mind, it can manifest in the real world. You just have to believe in yourself, and let it evolve if necessary, into what needs to be put out there.
Q 6. where can people find you online?

Q7 do you plan on making more books in the future
A. I am actually starting to write a 2nd Rose book. I love the character and think my illustrator did a beautiful job bringing her to life. She has been well received so far and I'm hoping I can use the Rose platform to make a difference in people's lives, young and old. Even though this is a children's picture book, I feel it has a powerful lesson for all ages. I'm hoping to continue that with other Rose books. 📚 I also have an adventure series I'm wanting to do that I relate to self-empowerment. It's still formulating in my head but is getting more clear all the time. Hopefully, it will come about in 2019.
Q 8 how many books have you written
A. I wrote and published one book in 2008, called Snap Out of It. It was designed as a 12-week self-guided workbook. I offered to coach those who reached out for assistance. It was only available on a website that I had at the time. I have written lots of meditations that I used when I was going through a coaching program. I have a strong desire to coach people through life's tough times. I have not professionally recorded these but hope to in the future. Rose is my first children's book. I think this is my niche because it's where I feel that I can make the biggest impact in the world.
Q 9 did you go to college to be a writer
A. I did not go to college to write. I was actually a graphic communications graduate. Ironic considering I'm not doing my own graphics. I don't have the proper computer and graphics to do the illustrations properly. I would rather be on the writer side and simply do the promotional stuff.
