Interviewing children's author Reed halterman

This is children's author Reed Halterman I had the opportunity to interview him for my blog.

Q1 when did you decide you were going to write a book?

A. when did you decide you were going to write a book?
We are a writing and illustrating team! R.M. Halterman stands for Reed and Mallory Halterman, and it all started with that teamwork. Like many parents of little ones, we started making up bedtime stories when our first bundle of joy arrived. From there our love for storytelling grew until we decided to bring our first story to life.

Q2. how did you come up with the name of your books?

A.how did you come up with the name of your books The story really drives the name. For our first book, the main character was, as the name suggests, The Fly with One Eye. We know with picture books, you have a very small window to grab someone attention. The title is a great way to capitalize on that chance, so we want to give a preview on what you’re about to open.

Q3. what are you working on now for 2018?

A. We have a number of titles in the works. We’re finishing illustrations on If You Had One Wish which should come out this fall. We are also storyboarding a couple more titles like And There was an Acorn and Haprack Survival Guide.

Q4. how long have you been writing?

A. We’ve made stories since we were kids and that’s what made writing together so much fun! We could bounce ideas off of each other and play around with concepts of words and art. We have to squeeze it in when the kids are willing to help or asleep!

Q5What advice would you give other authors?
A. Have fun! The more you make it work the less enjoyable it will be to the reader too. We love making our stories come to life and hope that excitement never fades.

Q 6. we're can people find you online?

A. Go to RMhalterman.com to find all of our original work, blog, and social media links. Also, come for the reviews of other great authors that are looking to get discovered! We review other people work for free and even have a Cover Design Award given each season to promote others amazing creativity!

Q7 do you plan on making more books in the future

A. As long as it keeps being this much fun, we will keep making more! We haven’t seen us get a dime richer, but we’ve seen plenty of smiling people who enjoy the work and have had to opportunity to use our stories to raise money for charity. That means more than anything.

Q 8 how many books have you written

A. We have only completed one all the way through publication. We have probably written more than we can ever illustrate and better ideas keep pushing older stories to the bottom of the pile.

Q 9 did you go to college to be a writer

A..We did not study writing in college. We are actually both in healthcare as our everyday jobs and use writing as an outlet and a way to relax. I love that we’ve been able to keep our love of writing apart from our financial obligation, so we can just focus on the exciting and fun process of putting everything together
