Interviewing Author Heather E. Robyn

Q1. Tell me about yourself?

A. Hi everyone! My name is Heather E. Robyn and I write Children’s and Young Adult books. I am a San Diego transplant living in San Jose, California, and I am a mom to two teenagers, Maddy and Deegan. They keep me busy but when we have extra time you’ll usually find us traveling or finding cool stuff to do around our area. We also live with my boyfriend Matt and Husky, Echo.

Q2.What are your favorite books to read?

A. Gosh, I don’t really have a favorite genre. I love a good mystery, contemporary, or fantasy book. My favorite author is Erin Morgenstern and The Night Circus is my favorite book.

Q3. When did you decide you were going to write a book?

A. In 2000, I jotted down a story about a girl’s struggle with test anxiety. At the time, it was only a draft and it sat in a drawer for nine years.  Jump forward five years (2015), I wanted to write a book about the struggles of grief, so I wrote “Group”. I knew then that writing is something I wanted to do.

Q4. How did you come up with the name of your book?

A. Super Max and the Math Menace is about test anxiety. Particularly related to Math tests. Super Max is named after my daughter Maddy. Dino Deegan and the Unpleasant Class is based on my son Deegan who is also a dinosaur lover.

Q5. What are you working on for 2021

A. For 2021, I’ll be working on a second book for Super Max titled “Super Max and the Hero Surprise”, centered around the military family life. I am also working on a Halloween book about a ghost name Gilly who learns about boundaries.

Q6. How long have you been writing?

A. I have been writing since 2000.

Q7.What advice would you give other authors?

A. Understand and absorb that the process will be messy. Be OK with input from your editors and other designers on your work. Self-publishing doesn’t mean you have to do it all by yourself.

Q8. Where can people find you online?

A. I’m on Facebook (Robyn’s Nest), Instagram (@heathererobynauthor), and my website www.heathererobyn.com

Q9. What is your favorite coffee drink?

A. I don’t drink coffee consistently enough to have a favorite. French roast is typically what I get with some honey and cinnamon. I love Chai though 😁,

Q10. What is your favorite coffee shop?

A. I don’t have one. I go to Starbucks once in a while but it’s usually so my daughter can order something from there LOL.

Q11. Do you plan on making a new book in the future?

A. Yes. I have three children’s books in the works and a Young Adult one I’m working on as well.

Q12. How many books have you written?

A. Three

Q13. Did you go to college to be a writer?

A. No. I went to college to be a Social Worker. Then I got my Doctorate degree and became an Educator.

Interviewing Author Shannon Taylor Vannatter Q1. Tell us about yourself. What are your favorite books to read? A. I started reading clean romance when I was fourteen. I married my high school sweetheart and worked as a hairdresser for ten years. Once insurance became important, I went to work at a bank and the corporate offices of a large fragrance company. After our son was born, I became a stay at home mom. I love reading Christian Contemporary Romance. Q2. Where did the inspiration to write come from? A. There came a time when I couldn’t find anything clean anymore when I was in my early thirties, so I decided to write what I wanted to read. My characters kept praying and talking to God and I realized I was writing Christian romance instead of merely clean. It took me nine and a half years to get published. Q3. How did you come up with the titles of your books? A. I start with a working title that fits the theme of the book. Sometimes, I change it as

A. I’m 61 years of age and was born in the Northern Textile Town of Huddersfield in England where I still live with my partner. I like many genres of books, but I don’t like anything too dark; before I retired I worked for many years in Mental Health Services in the UK, so I had more than my fill of ‘life’, and the ups and downs it can throw at people. So, I tend to go for books that offer escapism, I also like history, autobiographies, and biographies. At the moment I’m enjoying the fictional book ‘The Haunting of Ashburn House by Darcy Coates. I say I’m retired, but I now consider myself to be an author, I treat it as a full-time job, working on my books for several hours most days. Q2. when did you decide you were going to write a book? A. I retired from my job with the National Health Service in the UK nearly five years ago now; I’d already started my first book by th
