Interviewing Author E Williams

Q1. Tell me about yourself?

A. My name is Erick Williams and I live in Texas, I am happily married with three grown sons.  I am a veteran of the US Army where I was a military policeman.  I worked in juvenile corrections for almost 20 years, this is where I got the inspiration to write my books. I enjoy riding my motorcycle and working out,(not as much as I should) watching movies, and traveling to new exciting places in my spare time.

Q2.What are your favorite books to read?

A.  I like reading sports figure biographies, true crime stories, and certain comic books.

Q3. When did you decide you were going to write a book?

A. It was about 5 or 6 years ago while I was still working in juvenile corrections when a class I was teaching called G.R.E.A.T (Gang Resistance Education and Training) we were trying to come up with an anti-gang message I came up with a small 5 page play, titled The Last Time, we never performed the play but some of the residents told they thought it was a good story.

4. How did you come up with the name of your book?

A. The title for You Never Said Goodbye came to me about 75% through the book when I was writing about Vicky's (the mother of the protagonist) emotion about losing her oldest son unexpectedly when writing this line it just clicked this should be the title.  It was pretty much the same way with The Last Time Jordan (the protagonist) tells his younger brother KJ this line and it clicked this should be the title especially with the ending.

Q5. What are you working on for 2021

A. Both of the books have been published within the last year and right now I'm taking a small break to recharge my battery and promote the books.  I am still deciding if I am going to write a third book to complete this series or maybe write a totally different story

Q6. How long have you been writing?

A. I actually started writing You Never Said Goodbye about 5 or 6 years ago, I just finished it in 2020 because I got discouraged between life, job, bills, and kids these situations took up a lot of my time.  Then my computer broke and I had to get a new computer and transfer everything over to the new computer.
The Covid shut down gave me the time to finish the book and start on The Last Time

Q7.What advice would you give other authors?

A . When I got discouraged about the book, I had someone I barely knew told me to just write something each day and little by little you will finish the book and she was right.  My advice would be to start writing and try to write something every day.  I set my alarm to remind me to write each day.  I also try to keep a paper and pencil around in case inspiration hits me and I don't want to take the chance of forgetting anything.

Q8. Where can people find you online?

A. Right now I am presently just on Facebook.  You can reach me there if you would like to contact me for a signed copy of the books. The books are available on  Amazon.  The Last Time is the first book that leads into You Never Said Goodbye.

Q9. What is your favorite coffee drink?

A. Not much of a coffee drinker.

10. What is your favorite coffee shop?

A.  Not much of a coffee drinker.

Q11. Do you plan on making a new book in the future?

A.  Definitely.  I would like to tell a story with a whole new set of characters.

Q12. How many books have you written?

A. Two

Q13. Did you go to college to be a writer?
