Interviewing Author Stewart Jones

1. Tell me about yourself?

I'm a husband and father to three children. I was originally raised in a small village in South

Wales called Glanamman before settling down with my wife in Pontarddulais near Swansea. I

work full-time as a civil servant and enjoy listening to music, playing guitar and ukulele as well as

singing and of course writing. I'm also a comic book and film enthusiast.

2.What are your favorite books to read?

For a writer, I actually haven't read that many books. Last year I bought myself the Hobbit and

Lord of the Rings book collection. I thoroughly enjoyed the Hobbit and hope to work through the

Lord of the Rings trilogy when I get time.

3. When did you decide you were going to write a book?

The original idea actually came about a year before Covid. For a long time, I just sat on the idea

because I didn't have an illustrator, but I kept looking until I eventually found one. So the book

was about a year in the making.

4. How did you come up with the name of your book?

The great thing about stories and titles is that sometimes, ideas can just hit you like a bolt of

lightning. Because my focus was on a children's book, I felt it was important to simply get to the

point with this title. I wanted readers to look at it and instantly know what it would revolve around

in terms of storyline.

5. What are you working on for 2021

At the moment, my focus is to continue marketing my book. I've recently uploaded the same

book in Welsh so my goal is to try to draw in more readers via my Facebook page and

promotions.

6. How long have you been writing?

I would say, only serious, the last 2 years. Since this idea was first conceived.

7.What advice would you give other authors?

I would encourage other authors to take their time. A lot of writers seem to just want to get their

work out there and then straight away, they're talking about book number two. There's also the

habit of writers talking about their next book before they've written it. I myself used to do this, we

get so caught up in the excitement, we often forget that it's more productive to write as opposed

to talk. My other piece of advice would be for authors to trust themselves with their writing, good

or bad. If they feel it works, do it. If they feel it doesn't, scrap it and never underestimate the

power of editing.

8. Where can people find you online?

I can be found on Facebook @paddyplumbooks,

I'm also on Instagram under my username

stewartjones1989

9. What is your favorite coffee drink?

I actually can't stand coffee, unfortunately. I've always drunk tea, so my go-to fuel is a mug of

tetleys.

10. What is your favorite coffee shop?

Unfortunately, I'm not keen enough to have one. Perhaps when restrictions lift, I'll see what

Costa can offer this tea drinker.

11. Do you plan on making a new book in the future?

No immediate plans, but if the right idea comes up, there's no reason why I can't continue.

Never say never.

12. How many books have you written?

Just the one.

13. Did you go to college to be a writer?

I didn't, I'm far from a qualified writer. I just have an imagination and a willingness to learn.
