Q1. Tell me about yourself?
A.I'm a mom, wife, and "Gaga" to 6. I've been writing for over two decades and love what I do. I love to walk, hike, kayak, and nature call my name. I love a good food truck, listening to music at the farmer's market, and dancing with my littles.
Q2.What are your favorite books to read?
A. I write nonfiction, but my love of reading is fiction. I read every single day and have for as long as I can remember. I love classic fiction, contemporary, and historical. It's not so much the genre as the writing. I'm currently reading all of Charles Martin's books and love the intensity of his storytelling, and his work.
Q3. When did you decide you were going to write a book?
A. I've been writing for over 20 years. I've known I've loved writing since I was young. My first book came out in 2000 and I've written 12 solo books since then, and partnered with other writers in several other books. I decided I wanted to write a book when I found out I had cancer at the age of 31. I was stage 3 and when I made it to the 5-year survival mark, I decided to run after this dream of writing.
Q4. How did you come up with the name of your book?
A. With each book, I have a title I like. Sometimes I get to keep them. Sometimes I don't. With my last book, JoyKeeper, I came up with that title because we were in a season (and still are) where joy seems complicated and elusive. I wanted to share what it looked like to live as a JoyKeeper in a season where joy was often stolen.
Q5. What are you working on for 2021
A. I am about to sign a contract with a publisher for my next book. It's a book for women who want to talk to God but who may struggle to start the conversation. It's a series of books called Prayer Starters. It's different than anything I've done previously and I'm really excited about it.
6. How long have you been writing?
A. Over 20 years.
Q7.What advice would you give other authors?
A. Decide whether this is a hobby you love or a career you want to pursue. Writing and publishing is a long road and it's hard at a times. It's such an act of faith. It doesn't mean that you can't write for the love of it, or for your children, or to encourage others. You can! But if you are serious about traditional publishing, understand it's a full-time endeavor that is 1/4 writing and 3/4 other tasks that come with being a traditionally published author.
Q8. Where can people find you online?
A. On FB -- @SuzanneEller My blog -- www.tsuzanneeller.com -- on my More Than Small Talk podcast (any podcast platform like iTunes, etc.)
Q9. What is your favorite coffee drink?
A. I don't drink coffee. I love the smell, but not the taste.
Q10. What is your favorite coffee shop?
A. I do love coffee shops. My fav is Neighbor's Mill -- but because of their breakfasts.
Q11. Do you plan on making a new book in the future?
A. Working on one now!
Q12. How many books have you written?
A. 12 to date plus several others in tandem with other authors/publishers
Q13. Did you go to college to be a writer?
A. I didn't. I am back in college now and my degree in Creative Writing/Fine Arts.
