Q2. What are your favorite books to read?
A. I enjoy reading a wide variety of books. Since I work with children of all ages, I still appreciate reading children’s books that focus on social-emotional wellbeing. For my professional development, I enjoy books by other professionals that share research-based tips and advice, and for my spiritual growth, I am a huge fan of Mitch Albom, Brene Brown, and Eckhart Tolle.
Q3. Do you like coffee or tea?
A. Both! Two cups of coffee in the morning to kickstart my day and then herbal tea in the late afternoon and in the evening.
Q4. How many books have you written?
A. Three. Two have been self-published and one is in the final stages in terms of publishing options.
Q5. Do you have a favorite bookstore?
A. Since Covid, I really prefer to support local. Two of my favorites are Blue Heron Books (Uxbridge, Ontario) and Master’s Book Store (Haliburton, Ontario)
Q6. Did you go to college for writing?
A. No. My university degree was in psychology and early childhood education.
Q7. Growing up What were your favorite books to read?
A. Reading was always a challenge for me when I was a child until I came across Judy Blume’s books. This changed everything for me. I can recall a childhood memory where I am sitting tucked away in the corner of our school’s library reading until the bell rang. I just could not get enough of her work. This opened the door for a love of reading.
Q8. How did you get inspired to write a book?
A. I was inspired by all the incredible children and families I have supported over the past 25 years. I was having to explain the diagnosis of autism to many children and found that there was nothing created to help, so I authored my own book based on what I was doing.
Q9. What hobbies do you have?
A. I have always enjoyed being active. Running outdoors (yes even in our cold Canadian winters), skiing or just going for walks helps to clear my head, settle my soul, and feel inspired.
Q10. Do you have a favorite coffee shop?
A.I do enjoy a good cup of coffee but prefer to brew my own. I am incredibly busy, so I do not really have the luxury to stop and enjoy the atmosphere of a coffee shop.
